Raman Probes
At IPS, we believe that Raman spectroscopy probes are not a "one size fits all" product - they must be optimized for specific applications and product designs to minimize losses and optimize collection of the Raman signal. We custom manufacture a wide variety of Raman probes to meet the needs of our customers demanding applications.
One of our most interesting Raman spectroscopy probes is depicted to the right. It is an all fiber Raman probe that was initially designed for in-vivo Raman Spectroscopy applications. The probe proved to perform exceptionally well in immersion and bulk Raman environments as well. The probe is unique in that there is no focusing lens - so Raman can be collected over an exceptionally wide depth of field. This eliminates the issues associated with precisely positioning the sample under test and makes the probe very easy to use. The probe is exceptionally small and lightweight as well. With diameters a between 1 and 2 mm and weighing in at only a few ounces, this novel probe design is ideal for portable Raman spectroscopy applications.
The custom Raman probe depicted to the left was designed to interface with a synthetic aperture and utilizes unique optical elements to dramatically decrease the optical losses associated with traditional dichroic filter based Raman probes.

Ultra-miniaturization is the name of the game for the Raman probe depicted to the right. This design features a high power laser with integral Raman filter that has been integrated right into the probe - producing an extremely small footprint unit with high efficiency.
Frequently, customers have unique applications and need custom designs. The Raman probe depicted to the left utilizes 8 fibers for both illumination and collection - allowing the user to collect discrete Raman spectra from multiple locations at the same time. Additionally, the probe was designed with a detachable front end so that it may be either sterilized or replaced when used in biomedical applications.
